A Glance at G-Protein Coupled Receptors

G-Protein Receptors Subfamily  G-Protein Receptors family indeed is a superfamily comprising of many subfamilies which include 7TM orphan receptors, vomeronasal receptors (VN1R and VN2R), Taste receptors (TAS1R and TAS2R), Class F frizzled (FZD), Class C metabotropic pheromone/glutamate, Class B secretin-like, and Class A rhodopsin-like. GPCRs are categorized into 7 subfamilies resting on the stimuli type, which activates the G-protein receptors and sequence similarity. Their activating ligands though differ widely in character and structure, the receptors amino acid sequences are quite similar and thus are believed in adopting a common structural framework that includes 7 transmembrane helices.
